The River Thames is the longest river in England at 220 miles long (354 km). It is crossed by over 200 bridges and travels down 20 different tunnels.

By 1858 the Thames got the unenviable name of ‘The Big Stink’ due to the levels of raw sewage being dumped in the water.

Britain’s Smallest Harbour
Seacliff, North Berwick, East Lothian, Scotland at 12 metres at its longest side and an entrance at a bare three metres across is considered the smallest. It is a single man, single boat harbour.

Giants Causeway
The picture shown on the NI pages is of the Giants Causeway. This was made a
UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1986.
It consists of balsalt columns which are interlocking. There are approximately 40,000 of them formed from a volcanic fissure eruption which then cooled, a little like when mud dries and cracks. However in this case they formed almost perfect consistent shapes.
It is located in County Antrim a short distance (3 miles or 4.8km) from Bushmills, one of the most famous place names in the world. The oldest legal distillery in the world.
